Artist Statement
My love of clay comes from the added challenge of the third dimension. Not only are line, texture and color considered. Shadows, space & physical presence of form play rolls as well. My work can be wheel thrown, altered,  handbuilt or a combination of all three, with a variety of surface treatments.  I am fascinated by textures, so I mark, scrape, stamp, apply and take away clay from my surfaces.
I draw my ideas from a multitude of sources that include the study of Pre-Columbian and Egyptian vessels to the patterns of snow drifts and the granite walls of New Hampshire.
